Why the College Poker Championship?
"THE BEST TEXAS HOLD'EM, NO LIMIT COLLEGE POKER PLAYER IN THE WORLD"  Colleges have a fine poker playing tradition, and poker is often an integral part of campus life. Fraternity houses are famous for their poker games and off-campus cigar shops offering poker card nights are a growing trend. With the explosion of online poker and the success of The 1st Annual College Poker Championship it seems natural to hold a another tournament where poker-playing students from all colleges can come together and test their skills against each other, while competing for huge scholarship awards. collegepokerchampionship.com is a not-for-profit entity that receives sponsorship funds and tournament support from royalvegaspoker.com. collegepokerchampionship.com and royalvegaspoker.com are NOT encouraging gambling by students. We are however looking for the world's top student poker players. That's why entry into the tournament is still ENTIRELY FREE, with all events being played with tournament chips. ABSOLUTELY NO PURCHASE IS EVER REQUIRED by either collegepokerchampionship.com or our sponsor royalvegaspoker.com. We are awarding cash scholarships and charitable donations that will allow students to fund their educational endeavours. The tournament runs for just over six months. There will be 25 qualifying rounds known as "Super Satellites" with $500 in scholarship awards each week. They will be played every Sunday at 4 PM EST; with the first Super Satellite being played on Sunday, August 29, 2004, and the last Super Satellite being played on Sunday, 13 February, 2005. Each Super Satellite gives you the opportunity to secure a place in the Satellite Event, because the TOP 10% of players in each Super Satellite qualify for the Satellite Event. The Satellite Event will be played on Sunday, February 20, 2005 at 4 PM EST. It offers $5,000 in scholarship awards and the TOP 20% of players in the Satellite Event secure a place in the Online Final.  The Online Final will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at 4 PM EST. Players who place 11th to 80th will share in $5,500 of scholarship awards, while players who place 1st to 10th each win: What is the tournament going to cost me?
